An FTSE 250 financial services corporation is hiring a Senior Wintel Engineer who has strong skills in AD (multi-forests) DNS, DFS (permissions) and Azure AD. This is a 6-12 month initial contract basis paying up to £600 per day INSIDE IR 35 to be based in either Wolverhampton or Chatham. You will play a pivotal role in a small engineering team supporting a global platform who are about to embark on a transformation programme. The Senior Wintel Engineer will have extensive experience working across large-scale complex environments. Strong Windows Server experience, MS technologies & Infrastructure automation.
Opportunity:
You will be responsible for supporting a Windows server technology stack plus other associated technologies such as VMware, Citrix, distributed systems and front-end user interfaces. This person will interact with many technology groups across the group, such as application development, production support and global infrastructure teams.
As part of our Windows team, you'll work to improve, automate, and standardize our Windows environment.
Responsible for managing, maintaining, enhancing Microsoft Windows Server related technologies across the estate
Creating and Managing NFS & CIFS volume and reviewing current system against best practice
Support the global infrastructure, manage technical change and drive continuous improvement
Plan and implement technology infrastructure improvements in line with the global strategy
Work with application partners and infrastructure peers, participating in all aspects of the change process workflow management, escalation, and planning.
Contribute to production support issues, including; troubleshooting, providing short- and long-term solutions and root cause analysis
Efficiently create and track issues within an incident management system
Research and implement new technologies to solve specific product asks
Good knowledge of SQL principles and database deployments, review current SQL cluster deployments against best practise
Exposure to cloud-based environments: Azure, AWS or GCP
Technical expertise:
Min 5+ years in system administration supporting a high availability enterprise environment (MUST HAVE)
Azure AD exposure (MUST HAVE)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies (AD, DNS, DFS, IIS, etc.) (MUST HAVE)
Proficiency in developing and modifying scripts to automate tasks with PowerShell or VBScript
Diverse troubleshooting skills to investigate system issues (event logs, GPResult, perfmon, process dumps)
Knowledge of VMware 6.0+ Administration, Support, and Delivery (Desirable)
Knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop experience (Desirable)
Cloud-Based Technologies such as AWS and Azure
Rate - £575 PD to £600 PD (Inside) - 6-12 months rolling contract - Hybrid
