GIS Data Analyst / Data Manager

Our client is a very friendly, dynamic and supportive team who actively encourage passion, ambition and collaboration throughout their business.They are looking to hire an additional permanent GIS Data Analyst / Data Manager to their team to initially work on an especially important project with one of their key business partners. You will be hired to become a subject matter expert for the generation of a wide range of datasets, working within the Mapping and GIS arena.The role is being offered on a hybrid working pattern and you will be required to work in the office at least 1 or 2 days per week, the rest of the week being remote and home-based.You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of these datasets and you will be responsible for providing support to the wider business in relation to the product being developed.As the dataset owner you will have the scope to identify and implement any efficiencies, collaborating with colleagues both internally and externally to share ideas and experiences. You will work also be responsible for identifying and communicating data requirements and managing the process of sourcing and processing suitable datasets into the product.

Data Management Responsibilities

Use a variety of standard and bespoke tools to perform the ETL and QA of datasets into product repositories.Maintain and understand current data and product generation systems, with a view to fix, improve and update as appropriate.Be the point of contact for multiple Data Subject Areas using your understanding and knowledge of the data for customer queries and for any loading challenges.Use GIS tools and analytical techniques to establish the quality of data held within the product, ensuring it remains at the agreed levels.

Project Support

Be the subject matter expert for the products dataset in terms of its constituent datasets, its generation and its ultimate form and content.Provide advice and domain expertise for future versions of data repositories and any systems used to generate the product.Consult with external partners to successfully integrate data sources and resolve any data issues. This will include the evaluation of new data sources and their configuration where required.Be the point of escalation for any data supply and integration issues within product.Provide technical support to the General Manager in relation Data Suppliers, Customers and Partners, when and where necessary.

Team Responsibilities:

Provide coordination activities for the timely delivery of orders and any agreed product enhancements.Provide ongoing feedback and suggest ideas to data-related processes, tasks and projects to improve productivity and effectiveness.Continually look to improve the metrics outlined in the team KPIs.Help develop tools to aid monitoring and reporting of team performance.

About You

Ideally you will have experience in a mixture of the following:A qualification in a GIS or Data related discipline or equivalent professional experience.Commercial experience in a data analysis or data management role.In-depth experience in authoring ETL and ELT processes, with working knowledge of good practice.FME Desktop/Server or Azure Data Factory experience.SQL experience.Cloud based data tooling and storage experience.Python knowledge is desirable but is not essential.
