This is an exciting opportunity to work on an infrastructure rebuild for a high-traffic and content rich site, working with containers, microservices and serverless architecture. You will be joining a friendly, energetic and hard-working team in an agile and collaborative environment at one of the world's major art institutions.
The Royal Academy are currently delivering an ambitious digital infrastructure programme as part of a Bloomberg Digital Accelerator Programme and are looking for a versatile and creative developer to join the team as we work on updating and consolidating our digital product stack.
The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of digital platforms across the arts and entertainment sector and we have big digital ambitions and some great projects in the works that our team will be working on over the next year.
We are looking for someone who has:
Ideally experience in containers, microservices and serverless architecture - or the willingness to learn!
Proven experience in planning and delivering production applications and architecture
Demonstrable understanding of the operational requirements and considerations when delivering a high traffic website
Experience of agile scrum practices, and of working within an agile delivery team
Collaborative attitude and proven ability to work effectively with other developers
Firm understanding of Ruby or similar object-oriented programming language
Ability to implement accurate and responsive designs using HTML, CSS & JavaScript
Experience using GIT for source control
