To provide an exceptional driving experience, every chassis component needs be honed to perfection.

In this role you will deliver desktop simulations to cover the whole range of off-road usage, which will enable vehicle, system and sub-system assessments to be carried out. Using your expertise of 1D and MBS vehicle simulation as well as MATLAB, you will become integral to the delivery of off-road capability of future JLR vehicles.

The ability to understand vehicle, system and sub-system level performance within a virtual off-road environment is critical to increasing performance and efficiency of our products, and to reducing reliance on physical prototypes during development process. As part of this role, you will support development and roll out of the new simulation tools.

The successful candidate will work as part of a small, highly focused team delivering high value simulation toolsets and results to product delivery teams.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


- Development, rollout and delivery of new CarMaker simulations
- CAE correlation to physical test data
- Post processing toolset development within MATLAB
- Rollout of simulation tools to internal customer
- Analysis of vehicle, system and sub-system performance to support product gateways
- Liaising with key stake holders delivering the models to the correct timing/content/fidelity
- Support driving simulator assessments
- Support metric identification, verification and delivery
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time


What you'll need

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

* Working knowledge of MATLAB, CarMaker, Simpack (or similar).
* Basic understanding of 1D Plant and Control System Modelling
* Demonstrable applied mathematics skill
* Sound knowledge of vehicle systems especially powertrain, driveline and chassis.
* Highly self-motivated engineer with proven inter-personal communication/networking skills
* Demonstrable team working, and organisational skills.


Desirable:

* Passionate about off-road vehicle performance
* Knowledge of design of experiments, problem solving and DMAIC toolset.
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies
* Previous experience within engineering or automotive industry
* Full UK or equivalent driving license
* Familiarity with 3D CAD packages
* Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
