We are looking for a Principal Architect - ERP & Supply Chain to act as a Head of Technology Design for our major Supply Chain Transformation programme, and to play a key role in defining and implementing our vision for the Technology roadmap across our application landscape. Optimising our supply chain is a critical strategic priority. Best-in-class supply chain in the UK will be critical in our ability to support significant growth in online sales, to optimise international distribution, respond to disruptive market events and achieve a more cost-effective operation for us and our customers.   This year, we embark on the largest supply chain change in our history, modernising, enhancing and transforming a core part of our business. This multi-year transformation programme combines Process, Infrastructure and Technology change. It exists to bring together several transformational workstreams, including:  Build & Fit out of an extension to our warehouse   Potential Implementation of partial automation   Potential new Warehouse Management System implementation   We have an excellent opportunity for a highly specialist Principal Enterprise Architect to join us, reporting to the Director Enterprise Systems.  The Principal Architect - ERP & Supply Chain will lead and support the definition of the vision for Technology and the Technology roadmap for Penguin Random House across the majority of the application landscape around our ERP estate with particular focus on the Supply Chain Transformation.  They will act as Head of Technology Design for Supply Chain Transformation Programme, act as Solution Architect as needed, as well as the overall Application Enterprise Architect. They will provide leadership to design activities across internal, external and vendor design activities.  Key stakeholders will include the wider Technology Leadership team, Group Operations Director, and MD, Distribution.   This position can be based out of our London, Frating or Colchester sites. We are also happy to discuss flexible working.   Key Responsibilities:   Lead Design Activities for Supply Chain Transformation Programme    Develop and continually improve Architectural and Design principles with other senior Business and Technology stakeholders    Implement the architecture for the Supply Chain Transformation Programme   Support development and maintenance of the overall Technology roadmap and Domain specific roadmaps beyond the Supply Chain Transformation Programme   Participate and Lead Architectural governance meetings and workshops to define and manage principals, standards and policies    Act as Solution Architect on a project by project basis as needed.    Assess and recommend technology solutions to meet business needs.   Supporting the overall development and architecture approach for all layers of a solutions.   Support the selection and management of vendor and solution integrators   Lead and own the architectural design of assigned solutions collaborating with all appropriate internal and external technology and business experts   Directly contribute to the development and management of the Penguin Random House technology strategy, architecture, roadmap and policies/standards   Ensure the quality and integrity of all solution designs and their interfaces, including their fit to Penguin Random House technology standards and policies   Collaborate with business engagement, implementation and service delivery teams to define the scope of technical projects, directly supporting them in identifying and defining goals, risks, issues, and resource requirements   Ensuring appropriate quality assurance procedures are applied through the lifecycle of the design, development, deployment and operation of all solutions within assigned domains.   Support/oversee the planning, management and delivery of application development services, including software development teams, 3rd party providers and infrastructure services.   Provide technical consultancy for application and infrastructure requirements, working across technology and business teams; ensuring a consistency of approach and adherence to technical design standards.    Work with the business and technology subject matter experts to define and deliver the target technology architecture for the Supply Chain Programme as well as for the wider company's application stack requirements.   Candidate Profile:  Direct experience with 10M-50M GBP supply chain transformation programme in a similar capacity is highly desirable  Experience operating as a Senior Solution Architect, Chief Architect or Design Manager for a large organisation in supply chain domain, including integration of warehouse management systems   Business Architecture, Analysis, and Capability modelling experience    Experience in multiple Architecture Domains, solid appreciation and understanding of core concepts / building blocks of technical/ infrastructure design and architecture    Experience of Architectural frameworks (TOGAF/Zachman)  Excellent communication and influencing skills with stakeholders across the Business and Technology functions   Ability to manage and facilitate complex design across multiple suppliers and teams.   Experience of managing technical teams through the project life cycle, working successfully with infrastructure teams and 3rd party service providers.   Understanding and experience of project management methodologies and frameworks and change management processes.   Works effectively and inclusively with a range of people, both within and outside of the organisation and demonstrates determination, resourcefulness and purpose to deliver.   Drives a culture of innovation with Technology and the Business    Comfortable using critical thinking analysis and highly analytical    A collaborative team-player, championing our principles of openness and diversity   A self-starting leader who nurtures and fosters talent with clear visions and authenticity    Please apply with your CV and cover letter by midnight on Tuesday 31st May.   What you can expect from us: Salary: Circa £97,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
