Why you should join us...

We connect with millions of people every day, make content they can't get enough of and reflect and shape the world we live in... and we do all this through the power of creativity.

At ITV, we're well on our way to becoming a digital first business. We're transforming the way we work so that tech is at the heart of everything we do. It's what our More Than TV strategy is all about. And none of it would be possible without our data - and the people behind it.

Business Area Overview:

Our data team is responsible for helping us realise the value of data. That could mean anything from upskilling and training our people, to increasing our revenue through experimentation and personalisation. The list is truly endless.

Our Innovation strand consists of Data Scientists, data engineers, QA and platform engineers. As a mix of number crunchers and engineers, they put their curiosity to work in influencing the business.

As we enter the fourth industrial revolution, anyone who joins the team will have the opportunity to work on genuinely groundbreaking innovations so that we can  continue to blend science into a creative business.

This role entails...

We are looking for Lead Platform Engineers to lead the team building our data infrastructure supporting the development of our data products, such as ETLs, ML models and CDP, within our new data mesh framework.

You will be leading a cross functional team of Platform Engineers, Security Engineers and Architects and using the latest technology. We believe that "you build it, you run it" so we organise our teams around having full control and responsibility for their systems end-to-end.

You will be challenged in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, but you'll be given the autonomy, mastery and purpose to succeed. We value smart work as much as hard work, so you'll be encouraged to automate wherever possible.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the technical implementation of our data platform working closely with our product owners

Be accountable for platform quality within your team

Empower our data teams (Data Engineers, Data Scientists, ML engineers, Analysts) to take ownership of the operation, performances and availability of our data services

Play a key role in the build-out, migration to and operation of our data platforms

Help design, build and maintain ITV's most critical internal and external systems, ensuring they're reliable, secure, fast and scalable

Make architectural designs and decisions

Keep it simple by obeying the Principle of Least Astonishment

Help solve interesting and difficult technical challenges

Maintain a common set of tools and standards, shared across the company

Evaluate new technology, ensuring the platform stays relevant

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:

Experience working with cloud infrastructure & platforms (ideally AWS)

Extensive knowledge of infrastructure as code, containerisation, automation and monitoring tools (e.g Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Sensu)

Experience designing, building and operating highly available, highly scalable systems

Understanding of data platform and tooling in the data domain

Working knowledge of Linux (ideally Centos)

Experience leading a technical team

ITV strongly encourages applications for this role from candidates with a disability and as a Disability Confident Leader if you meet the minimum criteria for a role and you have declared that you have a disability, we'll guarantee you'll get to the next stage* (minimum criteria above).

The Key role criteria is as follows:
