WHAT TO EXPECT

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the design, development, testing and introduction of new systems and components or commodities. The role requires the individual to deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time and lead on the technical content and integrity of specific components and systems across specific programmes

This role will focus on the technical expertise and delivery of one or more areas of battery systems. The technical leader is responsible for leading the cross functional planning, coordination and delivery of all engineering design, verification and launch activities with associated engineering teams.

The role demands strong technical leadership utilising cross functional resource, planning and reporting status and the versatility to deal with changing circumstances both identifying risks and possible solutions to challenging issues.

Clear direction and a systems mentality whilst considering the programme deliverables on quality, cost, weight, function and timing are critical aspects of the role.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

As a Senior Battery Engineer, you will Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables, and manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones. You will support vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues, and resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets. You will ensure all appropriate Jaguar Land Rover standards are met through-out design maturation, provide input into new feature development and ensure all programme design solutions meet:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

-Strong technical background with proven knowledge of battery system development and industrialization- ideally within the Automotive Sector legislative requirements
-Relevant experience of battery system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
-Excellent knowledge and experience with analysis of cell chemistries for high power performance products
-Excellent knowledge and experience of cell and battery performance mapping and calibration
-Understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools within battery engineering environment
-Understanding of battery failure modes and safety considerations
-Knowledge and or experience of designing battery cooling methods and techniques
-Ability to communicate status at all levels within Jaguar Land Rover.
-Ability to demonstrate leadership in technical and organizational problem resolution
-Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
-Good verbal and written communications
-Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
-Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
-Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
-A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes

Desirable:

-In depth lithium ion cell chemistry knowledge and tradeoffs of attributes
-Battery management system operation and calibration knowledge
-Electrothermal analysis experience (Star CCM+ or equivalent)
-Requirements Management (RM) and battery component specification
-Experience diagnosing faults through electrical communications networks (CANbus)
-Previous experience within engineering or programme planning departments
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
-Full driving licence
