As Senior Technical Lead at UCL you'll be part of the newly formed and rapidly expanding ‘Development and Testing' capability and helping to shape it from the ground up through your extensive technical knowledge and experience and ability to lead technical change.  You will be working alongside Product Owners, Architects, Subject Matter Experts and teams of Developers to deliver against UCL's fast moving and wide-ranging technical portfolio worth over £20m per annum, including a new integration platform, a cloud-based data lake, laboratory management software and moving large parts of UCLs on-premises application estate to Cloud.

There will also be opportunity to form some unique and exciting working collaborations with UCL's Advanced Research Computing (ARC) and Computer Science departments for access to AI, HPC Clusters and assisting on cutting edge research at a world leading university.  You will be expected to lead and mentor several developers and other technical colleagues to build a strong technical capability. As well as provide design guidance and input to decompose large/complex features/problems and shape work packages for a product team to deliver in some of the university's largest and most enterprise-changing initiatives.

As a Senior Technical Lead, you'll have a strong grounding in full stack software engineering including SCM, at least one programming language (including dependency management and build automation), at least one database technology, CICD, deployment and configuration management, as well as containerisation and testing techniques.  You'll have experience in bringing this core set of skills to bear on a variety of technical projects and delivered against them through both hands-on work as well as strong leadership and mentoring of a technical team.

Communication is key in this role as the Technical Lead will be expected to explain complex concepts and build understanding to a variety of audiences at all levels.  An appreciation for application architecture, design patterns and solution design highly advantageous.
