Deputy Plant Manager SF34821 Permanent Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth

Babcock International's Devonport Royal Dockyard facility is co-located with HM Naval Base Devonport to form the largest naval support site in Western Europe.

The plant management team report to the Head of Nuclear Operations Governance within submarine support at Devonport. As a Deputy Plant Manager you will be a Duly Appointed Person and will be critical to the delivery of arrangements intended to ensure compliance with Site Licence Conditions and the terms of environment permits.

What will you be doing?

You will ensure there is a valid safety case in place that covers full scope of intended operations, authorisation and release of appropriate procedural for the conduct of facility maintenance and repair and a safe and secure working environment. This will also include the upkeep of appropriate Operation Records and suitable Functional Oversight of the work being undertaken.

You will ensure the design intent of the facility is met and maintained and that there is an awareness and enforcement of the operating regime within a facility by adhering to Operating Rules, Operating Boundaries and Operating Instructions. This will include modification to existing plant and the installation and commissioning of new plant.

The experience you'll bring

To be successful in role, you will need to have extensive experience within Nuclear Engineering. This can be within the Defence or Civil sectors.

Expert knowledge of nuclear plant safety case development, implementation and management.

Vast experience of nuclear power plant operations. (Submarine or civil PWR)

Significant experience of UK nuclear regulatory requirements.

Relevant engineering degree, Chartered Engineer status or significant experience in relevant engineering discipline and NVQ level 4

The successful applicant will also have good communication and interpersonal skills as the role requires regular interface meetings with both internal and external regulators.
