If so, Tilney Group are recruiting for a highly credible software engineering thought leader to provide the technical leadership for a newly created Agile software engineering capability.

Tilney Group are an ambitious investment business undertaking a digital transformation to democratise access to investment advice. We want to provide flexible and responsive products direct to our customers and we need a highly experienced and technically adept engineering leader to set the technical direction for our new blended software development teams. The aim of the engineering teams will be to develop high-quality, high-performance and reliable software products built with direct input from our customers.

The Lead Engineering Manager should have a proven track record of advising software teams, embedding automation and best practice in Agile development methods including DevOps.

The Role

• Be an advocate for TSW's interests with our technology partners, drive excellence in engineering, bring in the latest thinking in software development methodology such as Agile methods, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• Drive a significant increase in automation and reduction of manual effort in software process. Help coach and advise the software engineering capability to produce high-quality, innovative software products built with the user at their heart.
• Work positively with our development partners. You will be the lead for the engineering community across a blended engineering capability. You will build strong relationships and inspire widespread adoption of best practice, bringing the latest thinking to life for both new and established technical teams.

The Candidate

• You will be an experienced senior software/application engineering leader able to consult and advise on critical strategic technology decisions. This should preferably be coupled with experience helping legacy software functions embrace new ways of working.
• You should have experience creating communities of practice and helping drive the delivery of responsive, transactional, customer-facing web and/or mobile applications.
• You will be a strategic thinker with a depth of technical engineering authority. You should be capable of strategically advising a business around its approach to software engineering.
