Sr Platform Engineer - Permanent - Remote - $160kDue to growth in my client's Windows infrastructure and with influx of additional "Big Data" landing, they are looking for a Platform Engineer to expand their Windows support infrastructure team. The team is responsible for supporting all Windows based technology platforms globally with a focus on implementing next generation of Big Data processing systems designed on Hadoop technology.The successful candidate will lead them in maintaining existing technology platforms while designing next generation of Windows based computing platforms using Automation and Azure DevOpsThey are looking for a Platform Engineer who has a broad set of technology skills across many areas associated with Windows (2016, 2019 etc.). The individual needs to demonstrate the ability to manage mission critical 24 x 7 large Windows based processing systems while designing next generation computing platforms.Responsibilities:Support 24 x 7 existing Windows based systems running on Microsoft TechnologiesSupport and Maintain Azure technology and deployment including working with Microsoft DevOpsPatch, upgrade and build systems as required by customers ensuring all policies and procedures are implementedWork with the team to investigate, prototype, propose and develop next generation technology options for distributed computingProactively performance tune existing systems, seek for opportunities to enhance delivery of services to end customersBuild adhoc scripts to gather system information, automate manual tasks for efficiency (Shell / Perl), build documentation and standard operating proceduresManage, monitor and scale cloud infrastructures using Puppet, Ganglia, Nagios and other open sources toolsBe part of the Platform team to support 700+ Windows and virtual serversPartners with Networking and Storage teams to innovate and support new technologiesCollect and review system data for capacity and planning purposesWork closely with clients to provide technical insight and analyticsDevelop puppet modules for configuration managementCreate scripts to improve automated installations and maintenanceProvide Operational support including maintenance (software updates), hardware break/fix, and interfacing with vendor tech supportCandidate will be 50% on Windows day to day administration, 30% on project-based work and 20% on innovation, research and development Minimum Qualifications:7+ Years of significant Windows administration and configuration experience4-year degree in a technology field or applicable work experienceSome travel (
