Project Description

My client is a leading global provider of reinsurance, primary insurance and insurance-related risk solutions. We have embarked on an ambitious transformation journey to bring together all our existing and new primary speciality products under "One Company," ultimately leading to the creation of a leading global speciality insurance group. As part of that, the MRSG Finance and Actuarial function is working to become an automated process led department, through process standardisation, application of new technology and leveraging digitisation and automation opportunities.The focus of this role will be to work in collaboration with the Pricing Actuarial Team and the IT Application Team to transfer the current Pricing model databases from MS Access to SQL, standardising the structural set up of the data tables and ensuring compatibility with the company data warehouse structure. In parallel to this, explore the suitability for alternative front-end rating engines and platforms.Therefore, this role is well suited to a candidate with experience in developing an actuarial pricing model architecture for multiple classes / products and a strong proficiency in working with IT to design and implement high quality solutions that meet the needs of the customers.

Task Description (= service description as in final offer)

As Is Study· Review and assess the current structure of the rating models (in MS Access), ensuring a clear understanding of the data flows between the MS Excel rating engines and the databases.· Review and assess the current VBA code used to upload / download information between the models and databases.Future State· Investigate and implement alternative coding (R for example), to increase the efficiency and speed of transferring data between the rating engines and new databases.· Produce detailed documentation to detail the new data structure and data transfer processes.· In partnership with IT, structure and build a suitable data framework in SQL to effectively replicate the data capture of the current models (and improve where applicable).· Stress test the new data structure, comparing functionality in unison with the current structure, identifying any potential issues and improving as required.Collaboration· Work in partnership with the Actuarial Pricing Team and the IT application development team, collaborating on the project and incorporating their input and expertise.· Ensure all key stake holders are well informed at all stages of the project, providing clear communication on progress and challenges.

Required skills and qualifications

Must have

· Strong technical experience of end to end Actuarial Pricing Model structures, including awareness of industry best practices.· Knowledge and experience with using VBA, R or similar coding language.· Strong experience with SQL - including hands on experience of structuring tables, creating queries and managing procedures.· Project management skills, including excellent communication, organisation and planning.
