Our team

We're Data Transfer and Integration Lab, and we're building the future centralised digital nervous system using the power of our existing batch technologies centred on IBM's Info sphere DataStage stack, alongside our emerging Cloud Strategy and streaming analytics capability to get closer to our customers. As a part of the next phase of our Transformation we'll be moving more into Streaming of data and Cloud Technologies to meet those data needs and you'll be right at the heart of that transformation.

Core purpose of the role

As a key member of our agile development community, with a dedication to excellent technical quality, you'll build, maintain, and evolve our data capabilities whilst embracing industry best practices and standards. You'll be delivering projects from the business requirements collecting phase through to Live Implementation; be involved in ground-breaking activities as we migrate processing into a multi-cloud target using Cloud solutions both within the IBM Cloud Pak4 Data Environment and more widely into other Cloud providers such as Azure and Google.

Where you'll make a difference:

As a Lead Software Data Engineer, you'll work across multiple teams, providing guide rails to ensure that our services are built to our architectural principles and encouraged capabilities; be passionate for mentoring people in a "player-coach" model, and help drive agile adoption in the teams and adoption of collaboration tools. You'll collaborate efficiently and deepen relationships with teams in UK (London and Manchester) and India, and network with user groups to understand the direction of travel for our services.

We're looking for the following essential experience:

Experience of roles across the Lifecycle including business requirements and stakeholder management, analysis and design of solutions

Proto typing, Build, Test, Implementation and Application Support

Knowledge of Metadata Solutions and how they are used to drive delivery, Metadata Harvesting

Significant experience in Data Management tooling and their application e.g. Attacama (Data Quality), ILM (Archiving) and Colibra (Meta data management)

Experience of DevOps processes and tooling i.e. GitHub, Jenkins and UrbanCode

Interest and curiosity about learning new tools and techniques and help and encourage others to do the same

You'll also passionate about building positive relationships with engineering teams and product owners and helping to translate strategies into pragmatic solutions.

We'd also welcome the following desirable skills:

Champion of cultural changes including adoption of Agile and DevOps tooling e.g. JIRA, Confluence etc and practices e.g. SAFe, LeSS, Huge LeSS

Hands on experience of languages, tools, and infrastructure

Understanding or ideally experience of Cloud Native solutions including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure
