Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The Cloud and Operations team is responsible to the overall management of the core IT infrastructure at Inmarsat. As part of this group, Microsoft365 plays a key role in the Inmarsat Digital Workplace and strategic IT initiatives. In support of this, Inmarsat have commenced a project to migrate content from on premises data repositories (network file shares and SharePoint Server) to SharePoint Online

The Cloud and Operations team is looking for a SharePoint Engineer to take the lead role to support the technical assessment of content for migration, design and execution of the content migration processes. This role will provide hands-on technical expertise to the project and will need to participate in collaboration with Business Owners in Digital Workspace and other key stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for the discovery, design, delivery and testing of the technology components and processes to undertake content migration to SharePoint Online. This person will develop and maintain relationships with internal teams and third party vendors as required.

Technical Responsibilities

Analysis and design to migrate content from on premise SharePoint repositories to Cloud

Analysis and design to migrate content from on premise network file shares to Cloud

Analysis and design to migrate content from user home drives to migrate to OneDrive

Pilot migrations to SharePoint Online

Provide early in-life support to users of migrated content

Delivery of technology to support content migrations (e.g. ShareGate)

Provide subject matter expertise to project, delivery teams and IT Operations unit

Provide knowledge sharing across the team to support the ongoing development of cross team operational support functions

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

University degree level or equivalent in Computing Science, Telecommunications or related technical discipline

Experience working with emerging Solutions and Providers including a solid understanding of cloud computing technology

5+ years experience with leading the migration of content to O365 including Network share, Legacy SharePoint to O365 SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and MS Teams

5+ years of experience working with SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint Online

Experience in design/architecture, deployment and support of Office 365 suite of collaboration services such as (Yammer, Teams, Power Platform, Security Assessments ( MSAT), Office Groups, Project Online, SharePoint online and OneDrive for business)

Experience with Migration tools: SPMT, ShareGate and LinkFixer

Experience with automated installations and configurations: PowerShell DSC, AutoSPinstaller, SPDocKit, PnP & SPO modules

Strong verbal and written communications skills in English including strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross functional audiences.

Strong people skills; impactful, confident, credible and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment at all levels

Excellent analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills, coupled with a logical, disciplined and structured approach to documentation and procedures

Ability to work independently, with limited supervision

Flexible and dynamic personality

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

Agile delivery methods experience

Experience working in a complex global or multisite organisations
