London Kings Cross, with flexibility to regularly work remotely/home-based, with occasional travel to the office in line with NCVO's flexible working policy, or home working policy if outside London. NCVO is transforming the way it works. With a new strategic direction and leadership team, we are determined to work with our members so that charities and volunteering can thrive. As the country recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic and renews itself, charities and volunteering aren't just vital support systems for communities in need - they're at the heart of how people want to lead their lives. Our digital products are an essential part of how we support our members and the wider voluntary sector. They are central to how we give organisations practical guidance to help them solve problems, work safely and comply with the law. It's also how we amplify our members' voices and experiences, championing their work and helping them improve their practice. In this exciting new role you will make technical recommendations that feed into decision-making, and lead the development of digital products and features that inform, support and celebrate the charity sector and are used by over a million people every year. You'll be our only in-house developer, but you'll have a great collaborative and innovative team around you. You'll be working with the digital development manager and project manager with technical expertise, alongside digital content, marketing, development and data specialists, acting as expert links to channel requirements. We also have strong relationships with great digital partners who helped to build a number of our existing products. They'll provide mentoring to help you settle into the role and help to transition some of their products to our ownership. This role requires expertise in Python, preferably within a Django framework, JavaScript and some front-end knowledge of HTML and CSS in Django templates. Our new website is built on Wagtail, so experience of this is beneficial. You'll be involved in all aspects of development, with the opportunity to define and shape product visions based on user needs and business needs. You'll support teams in the iterative optimisation of our digital products. NCVO is fully committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in our sector. We want this to be reflected in the diversity of the people who work for us and we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and identities. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented at NCVO. As part of our commitment to employing disabled people, all disabled candidates who meet the minimum requirement for all competencies on the person specification will be guaranteed an interview. If you have access needs or require reasonable adjustments as part of the recruitment process, please let us know. About NCVO NCVO supports volunteering and charities. We believe that the work of volunteers and charities makes our communities stronger and the world around us better, for everyone. Our members are at the heart of our mission. We work collaboratively with our 17,000-strong network of national and local charities and voluntary organisations. We share practical support and new insight so that people and organisations can focus on making a difference. And we work alongside our members to ensure that the essential role of volunteers and charities is widely recognised.
