Operating at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, we're aiming to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world. To do that we're growing our capabilities in disciplines like data science, automation and cyber security. Defence Digital operates an organisation model in which every individual belongs to a Government Profession. The successful applicant will be posted into one of the defined Government Professions on a professionally aligned Job Description. Defence Digital reserves the right to move individuals between roles, within their allocated profession, to meet the needs of the business and in support of agile resourcing.
This role is within the Defence Digital Innovation Team. The Innovation Team is accountable for supporting the organisation in accessing emerging technology game-changers and providing leadership on how they can be integrated and utilised effectively in support of Defence strategy.
We believe innovation cuts across people, process and technology. For us, it means using new products, technology or ways of thinking to turn different ideas into capabilities that will help solve the challenges we face.
The Defence Digital Innovation Team works closely with the Science & Technology (S&T) community, using novel technologies and a range of partners to explore new concept solutions to demonstrate their potential value and provide contribution to capability delivery, digital strategy, and technology architectures.
A lead technical architect works with multiple projects or teams on problems that require broad design considerations. As a technical architect in the Innovation Team you will focus on an ability to think creatively with new and emerging technologies. This role is less about a routine process of generating or delivering architectural artefacts, and more about using creative technical domain knowledge to develop informed design decisions for novel technology solutions.
