Location: Hybrid - office based with full flexibility to work from home or at any of our hubs - London, Bristol, Manchester and Harwell.

The team:
This role is in the Cyber security division which provides cyber security services to our members and customers, ensuring that our capabilities and expertise are applied cost-effectively and imaginatively.

The Office of the CISO consists of a number of teams, including managed security services, professional services, Infrastructure and critical services and incident response. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining the infrastructure and systems that support Jisc's security services and teams enabling the security of Jisc's Janet network: a high-speed network for the UK research and education community.

We are looking for:
Experienced in managing networked security solutions such as next generation firewalls, IDS platforms, threat intelligence platforms
Strong background in system administration
Knowledge or experience of working with any of the following technologies/vendors would be particularly beneficial: Palo Alto, Juniper, Dell, IXSystems, Infoblox, Gitlab, MongoDB, Redis, Azure, AWS, Ceph, RoCE, iSCSI
Fluency in one or more scripting languages, such as Python
Ability to work independently and pro-actively to identify and propose improvements and solve potential problems

About the role:
Jisc is developing its portfolio of managed security services for its members and customers. The filtering services will deploy both central and local filtering solutions for firewalling and web filtering. This role is the technical lead on Jisc's side acting as the trusted point between customers and a third party vendor providing the managed firewall service

Other responsibilities will include:
Provide expert advice on filtering services from Jisc including firewall deployment as part of the pre and post-sales processes
Coordinate with the service deployment team on scoping and on-boarding processes to ensure all customers get off to the right start
Develop a trusted advisor relationship with all stakeholders within our membership and customer base as well as third party suppliers
Serve as customer advocate, including collecting customer feedback on product needs, understanding customer and industry trends and articulating those back to the business
Advise and oversee customer growth, training and development of best practices to continually drive business value and return on the customer's investment.
Be the single point of contact and escalation for the customer
