We now have an opportunity for an experienced Technical Specialist to join the NHS.uk team.

As a Senior Technical Specialist your responsibilities will include:

Support our essential high-availability Azure based web services

Ensuring the performance, resilience and availability of live services

Maintaining platform security

Liaising and working with 3rd party suppliers

Designing and implementing new infrastructure to support service improvements and extensions

Supporting the out of hours support rota to ensure 24/7 availability of services, resolving urgent issues and outages and managing deployment of updates and new services

About you

Some of the key skills and experience you'll bring: 

Significant experience of delivering high-availability Azure Cloud hosted live web services and using the following technologies:

Azure DevOps

IaaS Paas and SaaS technologies in MS Azure

Windows and Linux operating systems

Terraform

Powershell

TCP/IP/DHCP/DNS

Automated configuration tools such as Puppet and Ansible

Experience using reporting tools to monitor and optimise hosting costs

Experience engaging and working with 3rd party providers

A thorough understanding of ITIL processes, an ITIL foundation qualification could be beneficial

Extensive experience of providing specialist 24/7 operational support to maintain high availability of publicly-facing web services

Experience of administrating monitoring and alerting solutions aligned to Service Level Agreements

Excellent communication skills, able to effectively manage a range of stakeholder relationships

Able to join the out-of-hours support rota to support critical service issues and manage deployment updates
