As a Barclay's Elastic Infra Observability Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of the Elastic Infrastructure monitoring capability. Elastic Infrastructure monitoring provides the real-time monitoring and full visibility of the IT Infrastructure components such as Windows/Linux servers, databases, storage systems, voice systems and collaboration technologies. What will you be doing?
Designing and delivering the Elastic Infrastructure monitoring and Observability capabilities to deliver self-service capabilities and automations
Driving the use of new features both internally and across consumers in an efficient way to assist the support team and users with infrastructure monitoring
Reviewing existing academy content and flag concerns and recommend comprehensive solutions
Working closely with the Dev, DevOps and Infrastructure teams to continuously gather feedback and implant newer strategies
Developing tools and api's using Python or Java to enable a self-service pattern of use
Providing essential automation engineering work enhancing the platform with aim to provide stability and resilience
Deploying elastic components in cloud platforms such as AWS, OpenShift and Kubernetes
Configuring and run CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins, source control using git and deployments using Chef/Ansible and work in an Agile development environment
What we're looking for:
Solid understanding of complex enterprise organisational infrastructure and architecture environments
Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, OpenShift, Kubernetes and VMWare
Strong in scripting such as Perl/Python/Ruby and automation tools such as CHEF
Experience in Infrastructure Monitoring or Observability tools. (Example: Elastic, Splunk, UIM/Nimbus, Nagios, Solarwinds, AppDynamics, Wily, ITRS, vROps etc) Skills that will help you in the role:
Experience with OpenTelemetry and open-source observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana etc.
Strong in DevOps tools such as Jenkins for CI/CD, Chef/Ansible for deployment and Git for source control
Deep technical skills in Windows/Linux, middleware components & databases
Excellent communication, engagement, documentation and governance skills - able to work with teams to ensure the right deliverables are created Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play.
