We're the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the UK's largest independent producer of official statistics, covering a range of important economic, social and demographic topics. We help people make better, more informed decisions on policy and services across the UK.

Census 2021 was a phenomenal success for the ONS, meeting the needs of people across England and Wales through simple and effective digital services. We're continuing to transform our surveys, as well as the processing of results, data exploration and publishing on the website. Our brilliant cross-functional development teams and diverse communities of practice help to solve the challenging problems posed by the needs of modern statistics.

We're looking for experienced interaction designers who can develop solutions which meet both the requirements of the business and user needs.

Interaction designers are proactive and creative people. As an interaction designer at the ONS, you will need to lead knowledge sharing and contribute to communities with a view to developing and improving them. You will also help to develop design concepts, interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into your work. You will be confident in making decisions, while recognising when to ask for further guidance and support from your team and community.
