We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Support Manager to join within the Defence Systems Technology team (DST). Due to the material being of a particularly sensitive nature to the UK and its distribution, this role must be restricted to UK nationals only. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold, are not willing to acquire DV clearance and do not meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered this post. (Time-frame for obtaining these clearances is 12 months at least but we can start you on (SC) a lower clearance to begin with)

Mission Systems is a business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group and works with a number of key prestigious clients domestically and internationally. Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a Systems Support Manager who will own all systems support delivery provided by our teams of Support Engineers, Technicians, and Networking, Radio Frequency and Communications Engineers, with specialists in several customer domains that are able to provide in-depth support for specific system issues. As a Systems Support Manger, you will be leading a highly effective team where the highest of standards will be expected from both a technical and behavioural perspective.

What will you be doing? * You'll be the systems lead, taking overall ownership of the support provision and managing escalated issues within the team.Creating infrastructure designs, drawings and models from survey information * Liaise effectively with the customer to ensure that service provision exceeds expectations and to action issues if they are raised, folding feedback in to the team and changing the support approach where necessary * Be responsible for the team of Support Engineers within the service teams including line management support, career development and performance management * Develop an operational framework for the team. This will include clear processes and procedures for how to provide great support and handle issues when they arise * Promote and encourage good Engineering practice within the team. Challenge the team to continuously advance their technical knowledge and continuous professional development * Identify potential growth opportunities and work with other parts of the business to help expand into new areas of support and Engineering

The experience you'll bring

* A relevant systems engineering or technical qualification * Experience delivering IT and system support services to external customers * Experience in a team lead role or as a delivery manager for IT support services. * All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licenses must be shown at interview stage. * Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo DV security clearances before taking up this post. (Time-frame for obtaining these clearances is 12 months, at least)
