Salary: £44,224 to £55,279 + On-call + Benefits

The Security, Service and Operations team delivers change quickly, operates our IT services securely and embraces new technology to drive service excellence for our 5 million customers and 3,500 colleagues.

We are now looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join us on this journey. This means no two days will ever be the same but as a Senior Cloud Engineer you will need to really own it and can expect your role to involve:

Design, develop, implement and maintain effective & efficient cloud (predominately Azure but also VMware Cloud Foundation) infrastructure platform services used for the delivery of IT solutions across all areas of the Kelda Group.

Defining best practice use of cloud infrastructure services, managing detailed infrastructure risks and implementing associated mitigating controls, identifying opportunities to innovate through the existing infrastructure, and contributing to the overall infrastructure strategy enhancing or protecting value and meeting Regulatory and operational requirements.

Deploy and support the framework and tools for both Azure and our Hybrid-Cloud Platform

Promote Cloud usage best practices across YW TEC

Able to work in both Linux- and Windows- based environments and associated code frameworks

Manage account administration on a complex Hybrid-Cloud platform

It goes without saying that we are looking for individuals who are great communicators and comfortable conversing and influencing senior leadership stakeholders. A Senior Cloud Engineer who fosters a culture of excellence by defining and refining methods, standards, governance and assurance and is a technical expert and champion of data, technology and analytics throughout everything they do.

What skills are we looking for:

Essential:

Experience of managing Microsoft Azure

Experience designing, implementing, and operating build & release automation and continuous integration and deployment, especially to Azure, OR to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

Unix & Windows system administration skills preferably in a container focused environment

Experience operating, automating and scaling cloud-based Kubernetes infrastructure platforms

Experience of on-premise infrastructure is important:

Hybrid-Cloud Infrastructure: Azure, OR VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

Server Technologies (hardware architecture and resilience, operating systems, authentication, security principles and technologies, virtualisation, deployment and management, DNS, DHCP, AD & group policy)

Storage Technologies (local storage options, SAN attached storage technology including fabric, data categorisation,

Backup Technologies (client and server architectures and solutions, Virtual Tape Libraries) Knowledge of Storage Technology Tooling including IBM Spectrum Protect, Spectrum Protect Plus, IBM Tivoli storage manager)

Excellent knowledge of integration with various infrastructures within an enterprise organisation

Desirable

Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator

Microsoft Certified Security Engineer

CI/CD tools like Octopus

VMWARE Product Suite

Microsoft Active Directory

Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, SCCM

Scripting Technologies (PowerShell)
