Our reward package

We're hiring for a Security Information Risk Advisor based in Exeter HQ with hybrid remote working.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £56966.00 annually, which includes basic salary, market supplement, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.

As our Security Information Risk Advisor , your starting salary will be £37418.00 and you will have opportunities to progress to £41159.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minima.

In addition you will be paid £4000.00 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. You will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2022 until March 2024 in your monthly pay whilst performing this role.

Job Purpose

To work with Met Office change activities to enable them to achieve and maintain the appropriate level of information assurance to meet the Met Office's legal, regulatory and customer requirements.

Carry out cyber security risk assessments for new and existing systems and service.

To facilitate and support cyber security information risk management within the Met Office.

To provide pragmatic expert information security advice and guidance to Met Office change activities to enable them to achieve and maintain the appropriate level of information assurance to meet the Met Office's legal, regulatory and customer requirements.

Provide assurance to Information Asset Owners and other stakeholders that their information assets are being adequately protected.

Advise on appropriate security controls, including; security solutions architecture; policies and procedure

To keep up to date with all aspects of Information Assurance and carry out reviews of where these could be used in the Met Office.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Proven experience working as an Information Assurance professional.

Capable of making and guiding effective decisions on risk, explaining clearly how the recommendations have been reached. Able to make recommendations proportionate to the level of risk and technical complexity.

Detailed working background in IT with demonstrable experience resulting in a high-level of understanding of the application of Information Assurance principles within a diverse business environment.

Able to work with business and technology stakeholders to understand the information assurance implications of business change and to provide pragmatic advice.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of the requirements contained in the NIST Cyber Security Framework
