Skills required:

• Expert in modern C++ and libraries such as Boost.
• Strong C# skills.
• Strong T-SQL/SQL Server skills.
• Concurrency and multithreading.
• Understanding of networking (TCP/UDP) including multicast & client server design.
• An engineering mind-set able to quickly understand the technicalities of an application and enhance it incrementally.
• Communicate technical ideas clearly.
• A robust methodology for debugging and profiling applications.
• Expert knowledge of large scale, low latency system design patterns and architecture

An exciting opportunity to help define and drive the strategic evolution of business-critical infrastructure, responsible for the world-wide storage and distribution of market parameters used for the calculation of the investment bank's PnL and Risk.

Our users vary from individuals to high performance compute farms.  The architecture is designed to be highly available, partition tolerant and eventually consistent with an optional low-latency peer-to-peer distribution service.

The message layer is built on TIBCO Rendezvous and the datastore uses SQL Server 2016. We are looking to strategically evolve the message layer and data store to a more write-scalable architecture with lower latency, higher capacity and quicker data consistency.

The team is based in London, uses Agile development methodologies and a hybrid office/home working pattern.

Nice to Have:

• Visual Studio 2019.
• C++ 17.
• TIBCO Rendezvous.
• SQL Server OLTP and performance optimisation experience.
• Dev-Ops (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket ,Artifactory).
• Experience of in-memory distributed caches/grids (Coherence, Gridgain etc.)

No banking knowledge or experience is required for the role.  A track record of engineering solutions to reduce complexity and address application infrastructure problems at scale is desirable.
