System Tester - QA Engineer Financial services - Clearing House £40,000 - £45,000 Flexible working The company: System Tester - QA Engineer My client is an award winning financial service clearing house, currently seeking to hire a talented System Tester/QA Engineer to come in and join the Quality Assurance team.The Role & Responsibilities: System Tester - QA Engineer We are looking for a forward thinking, dynamic Junior Test Analyst with at-least 1-4 years of testing experience, who is pragmatic, willing to learn new things, a self-starter and who believes that testing and validating Systems that meet business needs is crucial to the success of the business. It is important that the candidate understands T-Shaping and is willing to grow into a T-Shaped Role.The responsibilities for this role can be found below: System Tester - QA Engineer Be able to understand Functional and Technical documentation (Requirements / Design) and create appropriate Test Scenarios based on the Test ApproachUnderstand the Test Strategy and the Test Approach proposed.Peer Review Test Scenarios / Test CasesExecution of Test Scenarios / Test CasesDefect ManagementWork closely with other teams to help resolve issues found during testingBe able to report progress on testing accuratelyAccountable for the quality of test artefacts producedThink outside the box, bringing new ideas to the table and recommend changes that help the Team and OrganisationWhilst we develop and test many systems, this role will benefit someone with Strong CREST Knowledge and who is willing to learn and invest time to understand about Testing. Exposure to working with Automation is a big plus. Experience in working with Outsourced Teams will be beneficial for this role. It will also be desirable if the candidate has exposure to different methodologies (Agile / Waterfall).We have an ethos in the Test Team of openness and collaboration with the business and other project stakeholders. This is so we can influence the requirements, specification and design of our systems that will meet the goal of 'Software Quality', on time and on budget; conformance with business requirements, operational resilience, usability for access ease and maintainability helps to facilitate rapid change.Your role in London Test Team will be to develop the test assets that display the characteristics of quality, schedule and manage the Test Team's activity to meet project goals. You will be based permanently in LondonThe Operational Environment: System Tester - QA Engineer The business has a HP toolset to manage its test assets, including:Application Lifecycle Management for test management and management information; andUnified Functional Testing for automation - an area we are growing rapidly to reduce the cost of regression testing whilst increasing coverage.Microsoft Project is used for project planning and resource management.Most of our software is developed internally using several methods that include waterfall and V-Model. We operate a number of platforms to deliver our home-grown system trading settlement services to the City. These include Tandem, Windows, UNIX, SWIFT messaging and CREST proprietary messaging. With this in mind we are seeking individuals who can demonstrate the following:Strong analytical mind-set with the ability to extract relevant information from documentation, system data, clients and colleagues and analyse the gathered information.CREST Business knowledgeStrong knowledge of the Test Life Cycle and Defect ManagementCouple the knowledge gathered from CREST and Create Test Scripts and Scenarios, thereby ensuring that the technical skills and business knowledge are closely integratedReviewing of team members deliverables to ensure completeness, suitability and accuracy of test specification and contribution to reportingIdentify and escalate risks and issues proposing associated mitigating actions considering the criticality of the domain of the underlying business.Team collaboration and motivation, especially during high pressured periods. Confidence to challenge/question requirements and/design approach.Ability to facilitate discussion, extracting information to devise test approach and risk/issue mitigation.Flexible in approach to cope with changing priorities.
