Looking to move to a sunnier climate? Come join our team here in Malta!!  The Systems Implementation Engineer provides technical support in the development and implementation of customer applications and company products, conducts on-site installations, enhancements, maintenance, and support for new and existing systems.  The qualified candidate will implement new product configurations/software upgrades, installs network devices and/or hardware components/peripherals, diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs technical problems.  The applicant will be responsible for ensuring deployment of systems using release packages from DevOps and solutions provided by third parties, making sure test teams and customers can complete their end-to-end testing successfully. The Citizen Identity Solutions (CID) Business Area focuses on delivering complex, scalable and future proof government ID programs, empowering local government and partners within the citizen identity market, securing major customers in the industry.
CID support more than 60% of the worlds government ID programs, including ID card programs, Issuance solutions deployed and system integration projects. Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Leading the integration and deployment of systems (including configuration of high availability and backups etc) in test, and live environments, both for internal use and on-premiss at customer sites. Cover a wide range of skills supporting the implementation of solutions at customer sites. Supporting test activities as required. As a subject matter expert on solutions deployed, perform occasional Tier2 support. Qualifications Educated to degree level in software engineering or computer science, or have equivalent experience Language Skills                   Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.                IT Skills      Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Knowledge of Microsoft server, and/or Linux operating systems e.g. RHEL/OpenShift. Set up and administration of servers, pcs, networks and firewalls. Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services. Knowledge of VM technologies. Knowledge of SQL Server, and/or Oracle. Expectations Willingness to learn about new technologies on the job such as Hardware Security Modules, Document signers, and Public Key Infrastructure. To demonstrate strong customer facing skills and ability to gain in-depth product knowledge. Knowledge of security best practices and tools. A flexible approach to location and working hours incorporating any appropriate shift patterns. Able to work under pressure. Ability to challenge others in a reasoned and logical manner to explore all possible solutions. Able to collaborate with 3rd party suppliers. Hard-working, goal oriented and with a high level of energy and enthusiasm; able to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally within a fast paced, dynamic and results driven business environment. Effective at determining a course of action, breaking it down into smaller steps and planning accordingly. Able to plan and forecast based on business priorities. Ability to listen and understand information and to interpret stakeholder and customer needs. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse complex situations. Responsible and accountable for own decision making. Understands the benefit of documentation, a knowledge sharing champion. Understands the benefit of version control and change control (ITIL - Release Control and Validation). Able to self organize workload to ensure products are delivered in line with agreed schedules. Able to change direction with ease to overcome and to adapt to changing priorities and problems as they arise. Identifies changes to software and hardware solutions, and associated business processes to deliver measurable improvements. Able to work as effective member of small team and work effectively on own. Work Requirements Compliance to all relevant customer and HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, Environmental systems, and laws. Travel and fieldwork (possibly up to 40% post covid), including international travel as required for implementations, training, FATs, UATs, SATs, CATs, early life support, and occasional support visits.
