At Dstl, we develop science and technology to enhance the UK's defence and security. We provide specialist services to the Ministry of Defence and the wider government. And we create innovative solutions that keep the nation safe. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll work with a team of specialists who deliver pivotal advice. And you'll take on the kind of impactful work that only exists here.

This role is key to supporting the wider team. With a logical approach and excellent problem-solving skills, you'll take on a range of projects and solve difficult challenges. With sound judgement, you'll reach conclusions that are based on evidence and analysis. And with great communication skills, you'll present your findings back in the best format, making sure everyone understands.

Your technical know-how will influence everything from operations and research, through to our policies and advice. As a future-focused individual, you'll love undertaking such ground-breaking research and experimentation. It's this hunger to learn that'll help you to thrive in our dynamic and evolving environment.

To join, you'll need a relevant degree, or equivalent experience. With a background of working as part of a software engineering team, you'll have the ability to build strong relationships, while remaining self-motivated. You'll also need to be skilled at developing and debugging C++ and Python. Plus, you'll be able to use and maintain source code repositories (particularly Git), and you'll know how to review complex code.
In return, we'll make sure that you're always looked after and rewarded for your hard work. You'll receive a generous annual leave allowance and staff discounts.
