At Dstl, we develop science and technology to enhance the UK's defence and security. We provide specialist services to the Ministry of Defence and the wider government. And we create innovative solutions that keep the nation safe. As a Principle Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our defence and security research. In short, you'll do the kind of work that only exists here.You'll join our Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) Division and help reduce the risk that these materials pose to the UK. With technical know-how and an eye on the future, you'll implement the strategy for this area and set our overall direction. This will be helped by your collaborative ethos and your ability to work well with others. All of this means that your findings and solutions will be more impactful than ever.
Day-to-day, you'll work on a range of dynamic projects and develop and use novel analytical models and techniques. Our projects range in value from £10k to £1M, so you'll have the chance to challenge yourself and shape your skills. Plus, it's something that'll see you working with external partners and different teams across Dstl.
To join, you'll need a relevant degree, or equivalent experience. You'll also be an expert at developing debugging with C++ and Python and applying the software engineering process to complex problems. This'll be backed up by your experience of using and maintaining source code repositories, particularly Git. And, importantly, you'll be confident reviewing complex code.
