Back-end Developer - Python - Javascrip - 45k - remote Who are they?My client is an exciting internet service provider, specialising in supplying Ultrafast Broadband, Voice-over-IP (VOIP) and security solutions, predominantly in rural areas across Scotland and Northern England. Who are they looking for?They are continuing to grow rapidly and to support the next stage of their fibre expansion plans, they require a Back-End Developer to enhance, manage and maintain their systems and applications. You will have the opportunity to work on interesting and challenging problems such as automated network planning built in a distributed computing platform. Working within a small team in the early stage of development, where you can leave your mark, while we navigate these difficult implementation problems. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design and influence existing and new systems as well as develop ideas to maximise business efficiencies. Professional experience of programming and customising systems will be essential to the success of this role, along with a strong work ethic and ability to own projects throughout their lifecycle. The Developer will uphold the highest levels of quality standards and strong communication skills will be essential to ensuring the successful launch of enhancements and new business systems. They're an outcomes based business focused on the Agile Business Development methodologies, so you'll be dependable and outcomes focused. What will you be doing?Building Apollo, our innovative in-house fibre planning tool used by our fibre planners and engineers to design and deliver their networkDesigning and documenting a new workforce management system, and enhancing existing systems to maximise business efficiencies.Ensuring their systems and applications are developed in line with our business requirements and outcomes.Regularly update senior leadership on projects, owning and escalating issues which arise through to resolution.Creation of efficient and accurate detailed technical documentation.Flexible approach in dealing with amendments to system/application design, accurately reflecting these in final as-built documentationContinuous support and maintenance of systemsWhat qualifications/experience do we need?Proven, professional experience of Python and/or JavascriptHands on knowledge of PostgreSQL or other SQL databasesExperience with Git, and/or GitLabExperience with Dask would be nice to haveOther distributed computer systems like Dask, eg SparkThe ability to build and interact with Restful APIsWorking knowledge of public cloud servicesWorking knowledge of Agile tooling, like JIRA and Confluence, would be advantageousExperience of GIS would be a bonusA strong desire to maintain a reliable IT infrastructure using documentation, careful planning and automationAble to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levelsAttention to detail and accuracy along with a positive and problem solving attitudeWhy work for them?This is an exciting time to join their business as we embark on our rapid expansion plans and look to extend our reach and push the boundaries of what is possible within their sector.
