The Role The main purpose of this post is to support the delivery of performance insight to and on behalf of the Trust. The post will act as department lead on several internal reports and national submissions, where they will manage and coordinate the overall process from design to extraction and to submission whilst ensuring that all requirements are met. In doing so the post holder will become an expert in NHS and Trust datasets and will be required to liaise with service managers, operational leads, clinicians, Executives and up to Board Level. The role will offer the candidate the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a range of health systems and datasets to support clinical staff and inform operational processes.  They will gain experience with a variety of reporting tools (MS SSRS 2018, Excel, R) and methods and will be exposed to data quality issues and resulting data managing data assurance processes.  Location The role will be based primarily at the Sandwell General Hospital and sits within the Performance and Insight department. The team are currently working both remotely and onsite, but the expectation is that following the easing of the national lockdown, team members will work from the office at least 2 days a week. Initially working on site would be required until you can work alone to standard. The Candidate We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a relevant degree (such as those in health, project management, business change or transformation, Information Management, digital technology, data or informatics) and who has a keen interest in how data and digital transformation can make things better for the NHS patients and staff that we serve. Previous experience in a similar role within health or the wider public sector environment would be an advantage but not essential.  Desirable Skills and Experience You have proven Performance / Information and mathematical skills, demonstrated through relevant qualifications or work experience. Understand and can demonstrate the difference between Performance/Information and Insight Tools and languages. Ability to use coding tools and languages (e.g. SQL / R) Analytical and problem-solving skills. You can apply analytical techniques to present a solution. You know about statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques. Data management, modelling, cleansing and enrichment. You understand data sources, data organisation, cleansing and storage, in addition to conceptual, logical and physical data modelling. Quality assurance, validation and data linkage abilities. You know how to conduct data quality assurance, validation and linkage between datasets. Communication skills. Ability to make complex and technical information and language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences Data Quality Management.  Ability to plan and manage a team of people to resolve data quality issues whether caused by input, transmission or reporting errors.
