WHAT TO EXPECT

This role will focus on the component / system delivery of the NVH attribute for electric and internal combustion propulsion with the Powertrain CAE NVH team.
The CAE engineer is responsible for delivering analysis results to support Virtual Series deliverables, and also to solve NVH issues throughout the program from concept through to production, primarily by the use of Finite Element modelling techniques.

The role demands a strong technical background and understanding of engineering and mathematical models and principals. It requires an ability to use these very complex data in a delivery environment and deliver results to plan.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

As a CAE Analyst, you will support the concept and design specification of Powertrain commodities using a variety of specific CAE tools and processes. You will be preparing and running CAE models, post processing of results using commercial & proprietary software. You will adhere to System Design Specification and Corporate Requirements, develop and communicate NVH solutions to the Design, Integration and Development teams and write Technical Reports.

You will have excellent team working skills are essential as is the ability to work and deliver process improvements across multiple functions, be able to communicate effectively at all levels and have a desire / track record of process improvement identification / implementation. You will be an individual who is resilient, energetic and enthusiastic, able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Educated to a minimum of Degree level, and fundamental knowledge of power unit systems and in particular Electric Drive Unit commodities.
Excellent understanding solid mechanics and the dynamic behaviour of structures.
Good knowledge of NVH assessment techniques.
Experience of linear static / dynamic / forced frequency and non-linear finite element analysis, ability to generate shell/solid meshes, and apply boundary conditions, using JLR tools (HyperMesh, Simlab, Abaqus CAE, 3DExperience).
Experience and knowledge of optimisation techniques (Topology / Shape) using commercial optimisers (e.g. Optistruct / Tosca).
