Job Title: DevOps EngineerLocation: Bournemouth BUT we are happy to support remote work if Bournemouth is unsuitable. Some overseas travel may be required.Salary: £45,000-£60,000 (experience dependent)Job Type: Full-time, PermanentThe Role:At MIS, customer experience is at the forefront of everything we do. To help us build functional systems that improve customer experience we are now looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer. They will be responsible for database management, deploying & updating products, identifying production issues and implementing integrations that meet our customers' needs. If you have a solid background in software engineering or are familiar with Python and Azure, we'd love to speak with you.We are currently migrating our services from DigitalOcean to Azure in addition to some on-premises servers; which are mainly used for big data processing. The DevOps Engineer will need to create, maintain, upgrade, and keep services/servers secure inline with our development schedule. Additionally, the role will manage and improve our GeoServer solution, providing web mapping data to all of our products.Job Duties:Create, maintain & upgrade servers/servicesDatabase administration for SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and MongoDBMigrate services from DigitalOcean to AzureManage cloud environment (Azure)Manage and improve GeoServer offeringDesign and implement CI/CD pipelinesWork closely with other team members to ensure services are containerised (Docker) and orchestrated (Kubernetes) appropriatelyPresent ideas for system improvementsKnowledge, Skills and Experience: Must have:Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering roleExperience with Cloud computingFamiliarity with container orchestration services (Docker, Kubernetes)Familiarity with MicroServicesExperience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as Git & GitLabSignificant experience Linux operating system environmentsExperience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as Python & BashWorking knowledge of SQL/noSQL database administrationHighly desirable:Experience with AzureExperience with Nginx, Gunicorn/UvicornUnderstanding of ETL architecture or prior experience with ETLDesirable:Knowledge/Experience developing RESTful Web ServicesGIS (Web, QGIS, or ArcGIS)Qualities and character traits:Character Traits:Curious/inquisitiveInitiative (self starter)Happy to work on big projectsQualities:Articulate - clear, concise and logical in both writing and speechCreative and intelligentAccurate and preciseThe Company:MIS aggregate and analyze space, air and ground based sensors to provide a timely, robust and holistic view of global events.
