This role can be "based" out of either their Preston or Hampshire offices, but the team work almost 100% remotely with occasional travel to UK based sites. DescriptionSolution Architect - Infrastructure - RemoteThe successful candidate will be responsible for defining robust and cost effective solution architectures and designs to meet the business objectives and requirements of the customer, with responsibility for delivery of fit for purpose solutions in line with Enterprise IT Services standards and policies.

The projects will sit across various Business Areas, such as Finance, Procurement, HR etc. and the successful candidate will work on multiple projects at any one time, depending on the breadth / scope.

Your main responsibilities as a Solution Architect will involve:Defining the solution architecture and design for the project to meet business and system requirements, within the project constraints of cost and timescale, and the agreed architectural and technical frameworkCapturing the as-is application, data and technology architectures for the assigned projectsDefining the to-be application, data and technology architectures for the assigned projectsEnsuring, and where 3rd party elements are provided, assuring, that the overall functional and technical design of the solution is acceptable and fit for purposeProviding Project Technical Authority leadership of the solution and associated development team, ensuring that the solution architecture and design is as required and is communicated effectivelyLiaising with the product suppliers, COTS component vendors and sub-contract development and test teamsEnsuring consistency and integrity of the solution implementation through overseeing the solution development process, and production of development work productsProviding design management and governance through the operation of change and configuration management activitiesWorking effectively with the Project Managers to support the development of the project plan, through assisting with the compilation, reviewing estimates and schedules, and identifying risks and approach to reviewsEngaging with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to develop system requirements and solution designProfileYou will be a highly motivated, proactive with a good IT background (Infrastructure) and the ability to communicate confidently at all levels. You will have the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and present ideas in a user-friendly language. Experience of working in a team orientated, collaborative environment is essential and you must be able to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. If you do not already have experience in a Solution Architect role, but has worked within architecture frameworks and have a passion to step into this level of role, we would absolutely welcome an application from you.Key skills/experience we are looking for includes:Proven experience in delivering IM&T solutions together with associated architecture deliverables.Proven knowledge and experience of working within architecture frameworks e.g. TOGAF.Understanding of the service lifecycle is advantageous e.g. ITIL.Hands-on experience with business and system requirements gathering / analysis.Proven experience in design, development, test and release of Information Systems.Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.Technical knowledge of a range of IM&T business systems from ERPs through procurement to supplier management.Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.Architecture and technical support documentation skills.Job OfferThis exciting position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis with predominantly remote working except for occasional travel to UK based sites or your "home office". Package will be dependent on relevant demonstrable experience and qualifications, with the banding for this role starting at £50,000. There is also a bonus available of up to 10% alongside a wide array of company benefits.
