Bioinformatics Software Engineer Location: San Francisco Salary: $160k
An early-stage startup is looking for a Bioinformatics Software Engineer to join its team and impact the way genetic tests inform people about their health risks. You will be writing reliable, production-grade software to help build a system to store, analyze, and utilize genomics and health information.
Role & ResponsibilitiesScope, define, and articulate solutions to complex computing and information management challenges.Lead and take ownership.Develop robust, well-tested code.Contribute to the architecture and operations of the company's computing infrastructure.
Skills & Qualifications Expert-level skills in Python and familiarity with other languages.Experience with biological sequence data storage and analysis for genome interpretation, pharmacogenetics, and/or polygenic risk assessment.Experience with Linux/Unix and cloud computing and cluster orchestration, such as AWS EC2 and S3, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, and related technologies.Experience with workflow systems (ideally those used for bioinformatics and sequence analysis)Experience with modern software development, unit testing, CI/CD, and DevOps.Nice to have: sequence analysis, ETL pipelines, analytics, ML/AI, system security, full-stack teamwork.BenefitsCompetetive SalaryFull Benefits PackageEquityOpportunity to work with a growing startup that is trying to make a difference
