Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you'll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers and the environment. We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding, where you can get involved in ground-breaking work. And it's important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds - bringing different perspectives to our work.

Effective use of data is at the centre of our work to bring about a Net Zero energy supply. This is a new role in the Analytics and Assurance Directorate - advising and supporting Ofgem's work, providing expert leadership across Ofgem's stakeholders.

As a Data Insights Analyst you'll be working in our new, dynamic and growing Analytics team. It's a team that's cross-functional, diverse and knowledgeable, where you will accelerate data driven decision making, digital transformation and enable self-service analytics across Ofgem. You'll be responsible for designing and developing dashboards, reports, visualisations and alerts in support of our strategic decision making - using tech such as: Power Bi, Azure Synapse, Python and Qlik Sense.

In this new role you'll design, build, test and deploy new analytic products and help maintain existing ones. Having discovered/accessed the data sources and pipelines you'll deliver the analysis - looking for trends, drill downs and creating forecasts. Your exemplary techniques will contribute to training events - sharing techniques and expertise within Ofgem.

With knowledge of mathematics and statistics you'll have a keen interest in how data, analytics and visualisation can drive decision making - ideally with some certificated experience of using visualisation software. You're an analyst who can also communicate and present well - managing and prioritising multiple projects at once. Ideally you'll also have knowledge and experience of data modelling, SQL for data transformation and data science (Python or R).

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.
