Leading the way in developing exceptional digital services  The challenge  The Home Office is here to make our country safer. As well as working to reduce crime and enforce the law, we also protect the most vulnerable and have a proud history of providing refuge to those who have been displaced or are seeking asylum. Whether it's fighting crime, protecting our borders or combating slavery, the Home Office is at the cutting edge of public policy in this country and our work is some of the most rewarding in government. Our Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) division designs and builds critical Home Office systems and services. These help people apply for visas or passports; support policing and counter-terrorism operations; and protect the UK's borders. As a Senior Technology Delivery Manager, you'll turn great ideas into workable delivery plans and see them through to completion. Your challenge is to deliver exceptional public services that work for everyone. The role Expect to work in close partnership with Product Managers and senior stakeholders, translating the product vision into technical concepts, then leading one or more teams in delivering them to agreed timescales and quality standards.  We'll look to you to select and apply appropriate delivery techniques and to flex the delivery approach to get the best out of your teams.  Along the way, you'll manage risks, dependencies and other issues that arise.

You will work with colleagues in Home Office Commercial when contracts need organising and negotiating. You may be required to facilitate governance meetings and mechanisms.  Last but not least, you will mentor and manage less-experienced colleagues, sharing your experience and knowledge.

About you You'll have extensive experience of technology delivery and technical practices, which could have been gained in a start-up, a large corporate firm or the wider Civil Service. You're likely to have certifications in two or more delivery methods such as Scrum, Lean Kanban, SAFe or Prince 2.  Equally important is your willingness to learn, to challenge conventional thinking, and to continually push the boundaries. You'll have well-developed people skills to set individuals up for success and to create an effective team environment. You will also understand how to use metrics to identify, understand, and improve team delivery performance. The ability to manage budgets and commercial supplier relationships is also essential.

Benefits In return for your expertise, we offer a range of benefits including a Civil Service pension, an environment with flexible working options, and continuing learning and development tailored to your role. You will be part of a community of practice who regularly come together to discuss challenges, share ideas and knowledge and test and learn new approaches to delivery and team building - all within a culture encouraging inclusion and diversity
