We're hiring for a Cyber Security Operations Manager based in Exeter HQ with hybrid remote working.

As our Cyber Security Operations Manager , your starting salary will be £45150.00 and you will have opportunities to progress to £49890.00 over time.

You will receive a market forces supplement of £4500.00 per annum paid quarterly, pro-rated from the date of taking up the appointment to 31 March 2022 - this scheme is currently under review.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £68,111 annually, which includes basic salary, market forces supplement, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.

Job Purpose

The Cyber Security Operations Manage reports directly into the Chief Information Security Officer and has responsibility for day-to-day operational cyber security (security operations centre), security testing as well as working with the CISO on key strategic initiatives, managing the budget and Deputising when required.

As our Cyber Security Operations Manager , the key duties are:

Lead and manage the operational security capability (Cyber Security Operations Centre) and respond to operational information security incidents including day-to-day performance of cyber security

Manage and develop the cyber security function including training and awareness, vulnerability analysis and assessment, incident management, resolution, and protective monitoring.

Manage and develop the protective monitoring investment portfolio to ensure that investment cases are developed on appropriate timescales to support the overall information management strategy.

Along with the CISO, lead, manage and inspire the teams within the function to ensure delivery of corporate outcomes

Responsibility for day-to-day management and operation of the Cyber Security and Resilience budget

Lead on engagement with stakeholders, across the Met Office and work with external stakeholders to ensure successful exploitation and protection of information assets.

Introduce a programme of continual service improvement based on industry best practice

We operate an on-call roster in Technology to provide 24/7/365 support to respond to operational service requirements. This post may be part of an on-call roster and the postholder would be required to participate in an on-call roster where in operation. The hiring manager will be able to let you know if this applies to this job.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Proven experience leading a security operations centre including protective monitoring tooling and incident response

Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to influence and negotiate with people at all levels inside and outside the organisation

A pragmatic approach to security risk management and experience of applying information security in a diverse business including collaborative research, corporate and critical operational services.

In-depth knowledge of security concepts such as cyber-attacks and techniques, threat vectors, risk management, incident management

CISSP, CISM, Degree in the Information Security field, or equivalent

Familiarity with standard security frameworks and standards

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Specialist SOC related professional certifications such as SANS GIAC/GCIH

Experience of the Cabinet Office Minimum Cyber Security standard/Security Policy Framework
