An exciting opportunity for a digital licensing and distribution expert to play a key role applying their knowledge of digital licensing and distribution methods in order to protect the interests of international members.

About the UKHO and the IC-ENC

UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners, surveying and charting the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.

The International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts (IC-ENC) is a not-for-profit organisation operated within UKHO. IC-ENC provides services to national Hydrographic Offices across the world ensuring electronic navigational charts are internationally compliant, consistent across the global dataset, and readily available for use. IC-ENC's services are of significant global importance and ensure ships can navigate safely, efficiently and confidently.

The role

Using your knowledge of digital licensing and distribution methods, you will act as the primary source of business and distribution policy related information and advice. You'll work collaboratively with data providers (usually other international Hydrographic Offices) and distribution companies, acting as the bridge between government and commercial organisations, making autonomous decisions in relation to the day-to day management of these relationships, including approval of new services, resolution of sales report discrepancies and responding to ad hoc queries.

You will also manage the IC-ENC Revenue Management service, which processes over USD50M of revenue annually and will include overseeing the sales reporting systems, invoicing, collection, retaining IC-ENC cost recovery revenue, reporting to IC-ENC members and settlement processes.

Finally, you will be the source of help, advice and opinion on data distribution issues to others in the IC-ENC team, the UKHO and other Hydrographic Offices.

 What we are looking for

An existing understanding of maritime digital products will be advantageous, but training will be provided. More important will be your wider knowledge and understanding of the licensing of digital data, including protection of intellectual property and the distribution methods of electronic products. You must be able to display excellent financial and business acumen, ideally developed through experience.

A core part of this role is managing relationships, therefore strong communication and influencing skills are required as is the ability to make effective decisions.

And in return?

UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard to beat.

This role is open to part-time applications and those seeking flexible working hours including working from home.
