Business Planner - Company Spin Off - Life Sciences / Research

Overview:

An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global organisation for a Business Planner to help launch an independent non-profit organisation that is a coalition of organisations across the life sciences with a vision for everyone to have equal opportunities and access to a successful career within science and health, its research and its outcomes.

You will work with the Director to lead the move from incubation within the parent company to running as an independent organisation within a 2-3 year time frame.

Role and Responsibilities:

·Establish and maintain a project timeline with key deliverables for all operational components of the spin out organisation.
·Put in place tools, processes, resources and policies that manage risk and overcome issues to begin and grow a successful business start-up, inc. financial, legal, people.
·Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements which will form the basis of competitive infrastructure, recruitment and procurement exercises.
·Conducting competitive tender exercises for support services i.e. Finance, Legal, HR, Insurance.
·Develop, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts
·Develop a clear and consistent reporting framework for the organisation and associated stakeholders.
·Steer, monitor and undertake further proof of concept work
·Deputise for the Programme Lead when required.
·Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation
·Exercise cost control and seek approval for expenditure to ensure we work within the agreed operating budget

Essential Skills and Experience:

·Experience of developing complex project timelines and extracting key information from an array of documentation.
·Experience of managing projects to a hard deadline with multiple stakeholders.
·Knowledge and experience of project/programme management methodologies including reporting and analysing results
·Experience supporting the establishment of up a start-up business or charitable organisation

Desirable
·Track record in developing realistic and compelling business cases, and ideally in seed stage investment and/or grant funding
·Understanding or experience of either the science and health research sector or equality, diversity and inclusion sector.

Package:
·Circa £60,000
·25 days' annual leave + bank holidays, holiday buying scheme
