The Digital Services Improvement team in OCR delivers and improves digital services and products to support teachers in delivering a range of OCR qualification. Within Product, the team is dedicated to managing and improving the customer experience of OCR's portfolio of digital services and products.

This newly created 12-month Business Analyst role in the Digital Service Improvement team will be responsible for providing professional business analysis services supporting OCR's digital vision for teacher support and on-screen formative assessment (including ExamBuilder, On-screen Topic Tests, Strategic Results Analysis and the development of new digital services). You will demonstrate curiosity to explore and understand customer problems and provide actionable insights on opportunities to make improvements aligned with customers' needs.

The Business Analyst will be adept in stakeholder management and will be able to consider and apply the most appropriate methodologies including agile approaches to ensure the delivered outcomes meet the business requirements. You will have a passion for data and digital and work collaboratively with the wider team to grow and develop OCR's portfolio of digital services.

The Role

Provide professional Business Analysis services to OCR's digital services for our product support on Formative Assessment.

Support of and/or consultation with wide ranging stakeholders to elicit and articulate clear customer and business goals and needs.

Focus on understanding customer problems, root cause analysis and identify opportunities for improvements to drive efficiencies.

Collaborate with the stakeholders to identify the right requirements to carry forward, assess their feasibility and assure prioritisation according to evidence-based benefits analysis.

Develop clearly documented, traceable requirements (business, functional, non-functional, etc) for Digital Service Improvement initiatives and moderately to highly complex change initiatives. Ensure stakeholder understanding of prioritised requirements and their alignment to desired goals and outcomes.

Use agile tools and methodologies to develop effective user stories contributing to product backlogs for all Digital Services.

Undertake as required Digital Services processes, data mapping and modelling, customer journey mapping, pain-point analysis, wireframing etc.

Apply and evolve the Business Analysis team standards to analysis approaches and outputs.

Provide support to the Digital Services Manager on UAT / testing activities.

Assess the implications of business change, analysing and mapping business processes and identifying the activities, such as new business rules, new business processes, needed to transition to new ways of working, all impacted by the Digital Service Improvement initiatives and activities around the development of On-screen formative assessment.

Carry out discovery initiatives to get a deeper understanding of user experience, customer needs and OCR's market and competitors.

Use data analytics and reporting tools to analyse service performance, user experience to contribute to service improvement plans.

Communicate insights from all business analysis activities and projects to key stakeholders.

Contribute to operational and strategic plans and input to business cases.

Use workshops, interviews, and other techniques to engage teams and stakeholders effectively in IT project change work; deliver gap analyses, stakeholder analyses or other effective insights as required to help manage effective Digital Services and On-screen formative assessment change planning

May take on team responsibilities, internal projects and/or coach, supervise or line manage other individuals including contract staff.

BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis or similar

Project management, Digital Product Management

Knowledge of the business - both at a strategic and business process level.

Proficient at using a variety of tools and techniques for requirements management, wireframing, prototyping, collaborative working, etc.

Data analysis using reporting tools such as PowerBI, SQL or similar.

Can engage with stakeholders through effective communication

Application of agile techniques with a focus on improvement to digital products / services and / or business processes.

Application of analysis techniques (e.g., user stories, MoSCoW, SWOT, 5 Whys)

Customer focused - demonstrate ability to engage with a wide range of customers to understand and establish customer needs.

Proficient user of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Access, Word, Project

Working in the education sector or qualifications sector

Data analysis and UI/UX/CX experience is desirable.
