Be the voice of the customer, working with agile teams to translate customer needs into business requirements, deliverable as digital product features
As part of Cambridge Assessment and Cambridge University Press, the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) is seeking a talented Lead Product Owner to be responsible for leading on the definition, prioritisation and refinement of requirements that will be delivered as part of CEM's technical platform transformation programme of work. Whilst based in Gateshead, in our vibrant new office at Gateshead Quay opposite the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, we are happy to support remote working, with agreed days in Gateshead based on business needs and candidate circumstances. What you'll be doing Leading on defining the product deliverables as part of a large technology transformation programme you will work with Product, Assessment, Marketing and Business Development to understand, help to define and iterate the product roadmaps and backlogs, and lead on coordinating work across multiple agile teams. Using qualitative techniques to understand customer pain points and validate solutions, along with quantitative data to inform prioritisation, success criteria, evaluation and decision making, you will participate in review and retrospectives to improve processes and outputs, and work with Service Delivery colleagues to ensure the service readiness for new products.
What we're looking for Already a Product Owner or have product owner duties as part of your current role, you will be looking to take your career more in this direction. Passionate about the development of digital educational products, you will make ongoing improvements to products and new product launches. In possession of a good degree or equivalent relevant experience, you'll have a track record of delivering digital product improvements as part of a challenging overarching programme of work and adept at working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. You will have an excellent understanding of digital technologies and software development along with strong leadership skills and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A strong level of commercial acumen is required so that you can quickly understand the business value of deliverables. Qualifications Appropriate accreditation (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) or relevant experience  The demonstrable skills you'll need  Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Strong level of commercial acumen to ensure understanding of the business value of deliverables The ability to capture requirements, add details and describe user stories to teams Excellent organisational skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Analyse skills with the ability to map processes or user journeys and associated wireframes Leadership skills A high level of attention to detail An excellent understanding of digital technologies and software development   We're also looking for the following experience: Team leadership experience Extensive experience of delivering digital product improvements as part of a challenging, overarching programme of work Experience of working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment Experience of backlog management, user story development and prioritisation with Agile development teams Understanding of Lean Product approaches UX and UI design experience would be beneficial Who we are  CEM, part of the Cambridge family is a vibrant organisation which, since its beginning over 30 years ago, has established a reputation for innovation and quality in educational assessment and research.
