Business Development Manager (Defence)


£40,000 - £53,000 + Flexible Working + Unlimited Leave + Private Medical + Pension + Holidays

Are you an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in the Defence industry and interested in joining a tight-knit startup business that has received a significant amount of investment and is now ready to take its product to market?

This business has developed a specialist submersible craft with a number of uses and is now looking for a number of Sales or Business Development Managers to take responsibility for Capture Management phases of business development across key international regions for the business.

In this role you will be acting as the main point of contact for business development with key government and political figures as well as end user communities in defined regions. You will be responsible for building long-term relationships with potential customers and closing on opportunities by following a thorough, strategic approach to business development.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful business development and end-to-end sales within the Defence industry and will have experience of building relationships with overseas clients.

This role is perfect for someone looking to be a part of an up-and-coming and highly specialised business within the Defence industry where they will be able to leave their mark on the business through autonomous, flexible working that will allow them to stand out in their line of work.

The role:
* Building long-term relationships with potential clients and attending overseas meeting/events
* Taking a leading role on planning for opportunity development using Shipley process
* Working alongside other members of BD & Sales teams to manage opportunities
* Developing strategies and planning activities to increase probability of success
* Ensuring Reviews & Gates are planned, and holding meetings on these
* Producing stakeholder maps, influence charts, BD presentations, briefings, updates etc.
* Contributing to a streamlined capture process
* Supporting Bid Management team with win strategies, risks and other key information

The person:
* Successful track record in business development and securing sales in the Defence industry
* Experience working with overseas clients and comfortable with international travel
* Highly organised, excellent communication skills and computer literate
* APMP qualification (desirable)
* Experience working in a startup business (advantageous)
