As a Barclays Web Application Firewall Engineer, you will have the opportunity to drive the vision for a variety of security product and design solutions, analysing and meeting user requirements for network defense technologies Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). What will you be doing?
Participating in and taking responsibility for the successful implementation of security operations requirements, and developing them into solutions
Working closely with on-shore and off-shore teams to enhance/upgrade/uplift existing services and provide L3 support yes line 3 support
Taking the lead on the design, development and delivery of product roadmaps to support the evolution of core security services, aligning deliveries to Barclays strategy
Following technical practices and striving for technical excellence both in security and network development
Building a strong working relationship with Cyber Operations teams and helping to define requirements What we're looking for:
Akamai (or equivalent) volumetric DDoS and WAF solutions
Deep working knowledge of layer 3 and 7 DDoS protection technologies
Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot integration of third party hosted WAF and DDoS services with on-prem and cloud based services
Ability to analyse WAF alerts and tune rules to remove false positives Skills that will help you in the role:
Experience of working within Financial Services is preferred
Ability to think architecturally and able to translate this into practical security implementation
Relevant professional certifications in information technology or cloud security e.g. CISSP, CCSP
Basic/Intermediate level of scripting/coding ability e.g. python, powershell, etc Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
