We are seeking a passionate Site Reliability Engineer who will provide technical expertise, support application lifecycles and operate with excellence. Being creative, curious and confident, you will be an integral part of our empowered, autonomous, cross-disciplinary engineering teams - designing, building, releasing and maintaining products. Working as an equal partner with the Product and Delivery teams you will ensure stability of application and services through automated and robust solutions.

You will play a key role in driving our ambition to adopt DevOps and create a best-in-class SRE capability to help bridge the best of our software and cloud engineering practices. We are looking for people to join our community of SREs to drive this transformation, help build a modern digital ecosystem using exciting technologies and do the best work of their careers.

The M&S Cloud Platform team is focused on building a scalable, resilient, modern, and automated Cloud Platform to empower our software engineering teams to take the full benefits of Public Cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure. The team provides a set of Products that serve the purpose of eliminating the complexity of leading Cloud environments within an Enterprise. In this context, you'll be joining a community of Site Reliability Engineers that is integral to Software Engineering to help increase application reliability, handle requests and incidents, and bring the best automation capabilities through our CI/CD platform. You will interact with both software engineers and cloud platform engineering to provide feedback and to contribute to future platform developments.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The Site Reliability Engineer role is the embodiment of DevOps with key responsibilities as follows:

SLO, MTTR, MTBF and peak-readiness of the supported products and the associated collaboration to drive positive outcomes through continuous improvements

Quality of the reliability engineering deployed end-to-end within the supported area

Accountability for the entire team's objectives

Active engagement within the SRE fellowship (community of practice) to continuously improve on reliability engineering at M&S and consolidate standard methodologies § Proficiency with and advocacy for the Cloud Platform's capabilities

Expertise in modern software development and quality assurance applied in each contribution whether on the cloud platform, the product code or any part of the ecosystem

Constant concern for the developer experience seeking feedback, producing high-quality documentation and working with (vs for)

Pervasive observability and risk management by design using M&S standard capabilities

GitOps and continuous everything baked into every asset

Steadfast focus on industrialisation, automating not because we can but because we must § Thorough and effective communication with all relevant teams to help improve existing and prioritise future needs

Reliability and autonomy when it comes to making it happen

Mature collaboration and problem-solving with clear communication of decisions through tech-talks and white-boarding sessions

Proficiency with agile methodologies

Continuous self-development and up-to-date skills, utilising the time and means M&S makes available

Coaching and mentoring of less experienced engineers

Spirit of responsibility and initiative

Key Experience

Essential

Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (ARM and Terraform)

Expertise in PowerShell and bash

Expertise with GitHub and Git

Experience with Microsoft Azure Enterprise Deployment (IaaS, PaaS)

Experience with Cloud Network Deployment and Automation

Experience with ITSM (at least ICR)

Experience with containerisation like Kubernetes and Docker

Experience with CI/CD tools, processes and practices

Ability to coach and develop lesser experienced engineers

Ability to work well with others in multi-functional teams

Ability to provide constructive feedback to team members

Humbleness, humility and honesty

Pride in being reliable and delivering high-quality products

Desirable

Advocate and experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

Experience of DevOps: you build it, you run it

Experience in Agile ways of working preferably SCRUM and SAFe

Experience with SAST/DAST/IAST tools

Knowledge of Software approaches like Domain Driven Design

Cares about the business and the bigger picture

Good communication skills, both written and spoken and able to adjust for different audiences
