We are looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer, someone with in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance and Testing, for an industry leading technology business who are offering a fantastic chance to work on a wide range of products using exciting and innovative technologies.The Automation Test Engineer will be critical to the maintenance, improvement, and development of the organisations existing testing and QA capabilities, suggesting potential process improvements and implementing best practices.The role will involve:Designing test cases and following testing standards.Creating, maintaining and performing automation test scripts.Working and consulting with stakeholders, project owners and developers within an Agile development process.Maintain and improve quality of the applications delivered by the team.Serving as the owner of quality within the development stream, taking ownership of execution of all required testing.Expanding coverage of test automation across the suite.Working with other QA Team Members across the group.The successful candidate must have extensive expertise working in an Agile team, using both manual and automated skill sets. Practical experience of test automation tooling, including Selenium and/or Cypress is essential for success in this role.Candidates will ideally also have experience in a mixture of the following key area:Formal ISTQB accreditation or relative industry experience.Accurately recording the output of testing, logging defects with sufficient clarity and managing them throughout the defect life cycle.Manage own workload to achieve deadlines.Experience working in an Agile software development environment.Strong communication skills both verbally and written.Experience in regression testing, usability testing, stress testing, acceptance testing, exploratory testing.Working knowledge of automation testing using a UI Automation framework, ideally Cypress and/or Selenium (or similar).Experience in manually and automating testing for APIs.Working knowledge of BDD techniques using Cucumber, SpecFlow or equivalent.Good understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD (desirable).This role is available as a remote position with occasional office visits. You will however need to have a base within a commutable distance of either Exeter or Reading to be able to attend the occasional office meeting, as and when required.
