What you'll be doing: As a Front End Engineer you will join the On Demand department, focussing on highly responsive, mobile-first front-end solutions, utilising the React Framework, for the Video-On-Demand, Catch-Up and New Original Content markets in the UK. These platforms serve millions of hours of content, to 40m+ customers, across connected TV, Mobile, tablet and Desktop. You will work closely with colleagues from all disciplines, across cross-functional product teams, to meet our increasing scaling demands and ensure our diverse platforms are competitive in an ever-expanding market. Some of the key responsibilities are as follows: Working with Product Managers and Agile Delivery Managers to translate requirements and product features into manageable components/tasks, giving estimates, suggest solutions and identifying possible risks Working with test and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout the life cycle- Contribute towards best practice for application development; specifying, designing and implementing reusable components that are efficient, scalable and well abstracted - Write, review and take responsibility for technical documentation that assists teams in picking up domain experience. Keep abreast of new and existing technologies and be able to apply these to a variety of projects as applicable. Be active in developer communities inside and outside of ITV, contribute to discussions and external projects, attend conferences and build a network of like-minded individuals To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills (minimum role criteria): Commercial experience in JavaScript development and software engineering principles Experience working with React JS Experience delivering HTML5 and CSS3 code across a broad array of web and mobile products, with knowledge and awareness of performance, accessibility and SEO considerations Experience building responsive, mobile-first applications Experience building unit and functional tests, ideally using test-driven techniques Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and principles Candidates with Computer Science-related degrees, Bootcamp graduates or candidates with relevant Front-End development work experience will all be considered ITV strongly encourages applications for this role from candidates with a disability and, as a Disability Confident Leader, if you meet the minimum criteria for a role and you have declared that you have a disability, we'll guarantee you'll get to the next stage*.
