Our reward package

The Met Office is recruiting for a IT Asset Manager based at Exeter (with hybrid/remote working).

As a IT Asset Manager, your starting salary will be £30932.00 with opportunities to progress to £33925.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minima.

Our total reward package is potentially worth up to £45,161 per annum, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus, employer pension contributions.

You will also receive a market forces supplement of £1,125 per annum paid quarterly, pro-rated from the date of taking up the appointment to 31 March 2022 - this scheme is currently under review.

Job Purpose

As a IT Asset Manager , the key duties are:

Execute, maintain and develop IT Asset Management processes within the Met Office's ServiceNow platform to provide a view of the hardware and software IT Assets deployed across the estate.

Provide clear and understandable compliance and warranty reports and respond to requests from Met Office stakeholders for specific IT Asset Management data information

Actively promote the Met Office's ITAM policies and practices across the organisation

Create, own, and maintain technical documentation and support information for colleagues and customers

Adherence to team development and support standards including, but not limited to, working in an ITIL support environment

Effective communication as necessary to a diverse audience ranging from the highly technical to end users

 

Technology directorate only - We operate an on-call roster in Technology to provide 24/7/365 support to respond to operational service requirements. This post may be part of an on-call roster and the postholder would be required to participate in an on-call roster where in operation. The hiring manager will be able to let you know if this applies to this job.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Be able to demonstrate experience of IT Asset Management best practices in either of Hardware or Software Asset Management

Demonstrate a strong knowledge of working with Asset Management tooling, including an understanding of a CMDB and the specific business services that it supports

An ability to solve abstract problems, providing efficient and effective solutions in a timely manner

Show evidence of an organised and structured approach to work

A proven ability to communicate easily, enthusiastically, and professionally with a range of customers

Good team-working skills and when appropriate the ability to work to your own initiative

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Familiarity with international standards for IT Asset Management

Hold a recognised IT Asset Management qualification, e.g. CHAMP, CSAM

Experience of software configuration management

Experience of IT Asset Management using ServiceNow
