The Digital and Technology Directorate are specialists in user centred design, delivery and technology. We partner with teams across the DfE to deliver world class services that improve the outcomes of children and learners in education and care.

The directorate is part of a wider Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) community across government, sharing a clear vision of making public services digital by default, simpler, clearer and faster to use.   Job Description   The successful candidate will be part of the IT Service Management (ITSM) Toolset team, with an understanding of IT Service Management and the ITIL lifecycle.

You will join an existing agile delivery team to help deliver enhancements and new functionality within the toolset across the ITIL framework.

This will be a challenging and varied role, supporting the team, influencing best practice processes to support the operational delivery in accordance with Government Digital Standards (GDS) ways of working.

The candidate will lead small-to-medium-sized projects and support larger and more complex projects.   Responsabilities As a Business Analyst you will:

Build strong, working relationships with key stakeholders. Develop an understanding of who the service users are and what their needs are, based on evidence. Translate user needs and business requirements into user stories and propose design approaches or services that meet these needs. Ensure user stories are clearly understood and agreed by developers and stakeholders. Effectively communicate findings to the team and the wider organisation, so that they share a strong and empathetic understanding. Investigate, analyse, visualise, articulate and solve complex problems and concepts. Help the agile delivery team to make disciplined decisions based on evidence available. Own small workstreams, ensuring requirements are gathered and translated into user stories, research findings into stories and actions that lead to valuable products and service features. Analyse where services are poor, fail to reach desired outcomes or are inefficient and identify the root cause. Essential Criteria:

We are looking for someone to show us the following essential criteria: Proven experience of working as a Business Analyst. Ability to document and analyse complex business processes. Ability to communicate technical language and concepts to the wider business, stakeholders and users. Experience of managing challenging stakeholder relationships. Ability to meet and manage conflicting deadlines accordingly. Desirable Criteria:

It would be desirable but not essential if you have: Working knowledge of Agile ways of working and user centred design. Working knowledge of GDS principles. Operational experience of ITIL V4. Experience of working with the ServiceNow ITSM Tool. Recognised Business Analysis IT professional qualifications, such as the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis. Worked in a multi-disciplinary, agile delivery team.

Desirable criteria will only be assessed in the event of a tie break situation to make an informed decision.
