This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Asset and Configuration Manager to work as part of the Operational Services management team, setting the vision, strategy and roadmap for IT Asset and Configuration Management. The role is pivotal in building capability in a team that will manage all of DfE's and enable a clear view of our service landscape.

The Asset and Configuration Manager is responsible for ensuring departmental assets (software and hardware) and our configuration management are robust, effective, current and compliant. This role will shape the future direction for departmental asset and configuration management, drawing together disparate activities across the department into streamlined function that underpins and supports effective delivery, maximising value.

For Software & Hardware Asset Management, this role will establish a department-wide approach to how we manage our assets, developing and implementing the lifecycle approach partnering with key Digital & Technology Teams as well as Finance and Commercial. For Configuration Management, this role will ensure the development of a robust repository that underpins our IT Service Management enabling clarity on the scale of departmental services, they components and how these interact and interoperate to deliver to their users.

Work with the Head of Operational Services to scope, define and execute a strategies and plans across Software & Hardware Asset Management and Configuration Management, establishing a clear roadmap in line with organisational and functional priorities
Drive and develop the demand roadmap, shaping clear policies across the functional areas and establishing processes and procedures to ensure adherence, including driving the requirements in ITSM tooling to support the process
Ensuring all functional areas are delivered in line with agreed policy, process, procedure and meets contractual obligations
Line management of the team providing leadership, coaching and empowerment, ensuring all performance objectives are in place, current, relevant and aligned to the wider organisational strategies maturing capability
Budget responsibility, including spend approvals and forecasting for all operational costs relating to your service areas.   Responsabilities
We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Demonstrable experience in IT Service Management and an understanding of how to implement the framework in large-scale complex organisations
Manage live operations in a modern IT environment, delivering excellence through high quality service management, promoting continuous monitoring, assessment and improvement
Lead and build a high-performing team, providing clear leadership and management to enable delivery of outcomes, as well as coaching and development, creating a supportive and inclusive culture
Develop strategies, roadmaps and processes that ensure across all areas compliance and performance
Own the IT Asset Lifecycle, developing cross functional and key stakeholder relationships to ensure all IT assets are procured and managed in line with business need and departmental policies and standards
Optimise the team's delivery actively addressing the most complicated risks, issues and dependencies including those where ownership exists outside the team or no clear ownership.

It would be advantageous, but not essential, if you can demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

You know how to analyse current policy and processes, identifying and implementing opportunities to optimise and automate
Experience of working with agile delivery/service teams
An understanding of the government digital and technology standards.
