Full Time, Part Time or Job Share Use your research skills to help control veterinary viruses About us The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) is a new public body that's been established to support environmental protection and improve the natural environment. The OEP's role is to hold government to account on its environmental commitments, and provide independent oversight and advice on environmental law and other matters relating to the natural environment. About the job In this role you'll be responsible for helping the OEP to tackle some of the most pressing issue of our time, from climate change to biodiversity loss. As Senior IT and Digital Officer, you'll work with teams across the organisation to promote and deliver IT and Digital support services to our users. You'll liaise with OEP managers and staff, monitor third party IT supplier performance, and provide systems administration and user support, including systems configuration, data management and transfer. You'll act as the main point of contact within the OEP for all service users' IT and Digital needs, and you'll work in an agile and flexible way to provide a high quality service to all teams and users. Working with colleagues to explore opportunities for investment in new digital and IT systems that can help the department's work, you'll be responsible for implementing a digital culture that values continuous improvement. It will also be your responsibility to ensure that that all personal data held on OEP systems is gathered and managed in accordance with GDPR legislation and the data management framework.  About you  You'll have a degree or qualification in a relevant IT or Digital discipline, and ideally have an ITIL qualification too. You'll also have broad experience of IT and digital services management support, including in administration of computer systems, software, networks, web-services, user connectivity, data and security. With a keen interest in IT and Digital technologies and the latest developments in the sector, you'll possess a strong understanding of how innovation can support the delivery of top quality services in a modern, high profile organisation. Customer experience will also be a key motivator for you, and as such you'll have excellent communications skills and a can-do approach that puts colleagues at ease and helps them to understand issues and rectify problems rapidly. You'll be comfortable explaining complex concepts clearly and concisely to staff of all levels and IT abilities, from senior managers to external suppliers. To succeed in this role, you'll also need to have a strong understanding of the current regulatory landscape, information management and GDPR legislation - but perhaps most importantly, you'll need to a genuine passion for using your skills to simplify and improve digital and IT experiences for all our service users.
